Studio portrait of 458 Private (Pte) Thomas Albert McClure, 38th Battalion, of Mitre Lake, Vic. A farmer prior to enlisting in April 1916, Pte McClure embarked from Melbourne on board HMAT Runic (A54) on 20 June 1916. He arrived in France for service on the Western Front on 22 November 1916 and was appointed Lance Corporal (L/Cpl) in June 1917. L/Cpl McClure was killed in action at Passchendaele, Belgium, on 13 October 1917. He was 28 years of age.
