The original grave of SX7239 Lance Corporal (L/Cpl) Phillip Pearce, 2/48 Battalion, of Watervale, SA, in El Alamein War Cemetery, Egypt. L/Cpl Pearce was killed in action on 31 October 1942, aged 30. L/Cpl Pearce's brother, SX2139 Private (Pte) Harold Pearce, also 2/48 Battalion, was killed in action at El Alamein on 26 October 1942. A third brother SX9706 Pte George Pearce, 2/43 Battalion, died of wounds received in action in Libya on 16 August 1941.
