Description

Spiral bound manuscript relating to the Second World War service of NX161421 Sapper Edward James Horsfall, Australian Army. Horsfall's memoirs detail his war experience with the 23rd Field Company, Royal Australian Engineers. Horsfall describes his training, building roads in NSW as well as various other jobs and includes a day-by-day account of his work at Wyndham. He was sent to Wyndham to lay mines that would demolish the landing ground if the Japanese ever sought to land there. Horsfall also recounts his experiences in New Guinea 1944-45. Includes images of maps and photographs. Also includes a two page account of WX39287 Private Slater George Smith's experiences in New Britain, Rabaul once the war had ended.
