Collection relating to the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands (RAMSI) visit of artist eX de Medici, commissioned by the Australian War Memorial as an official war artist, 2009-2010.

Wallet 1 of 1 - Consists of 165-page handwritten diary maintained by eX de Medici during her visits to the Solomon Islands between January 2009 and February 2010. The diary covers de Medici's preparations for deployment, initial impressions, daily activities, notes on explosive hazards, the weather, the environment, the legacy of colonisation and war, her impressions of the towns visited and people encountered, and progress on her artworks. The diary entries are interspersed by newspaper clippings, ephemera, and colour photographs of Solomon Islanders, Australian Defence Force personnel, the natural environment, and aircraft wreckages from the Second World War.
