Studio portrait of 4008 Private (Pte) Leslie Anderson, left, and 4020 Pte William Stanley Bull both of 32nd Battalion. Pte Anderson from Dowerin and Pte Bull from Kulin, Western Australia, were both farmers prior to enlistment and embarked with the 10th Reinforcements from Fremantle on 28 October 1916 aboard HMAT Port Melbourne (A16) for Devonport, England. Both trained with the 8th Training Battalion before proceeding to France to join their battalion on the Western Front near Bapaume. Pte Anderson was wounded in action near Corbie, France, on 14 April 1918 and died of these wounds the following day. He was aged 26 years. (His older brother, 3705 Pte Joseph Herbert Anderson, 11th Battalion, died of wounds at Pozieres on 21 July 1916.) Pte Bull was killed in action near Corbie, France, on 24 April 1918. He was aged 24 years.
