Studio portrait of 2144 Private (Pte) William Wahlers Wilson, 32nd Battalion. A furnace man of Parkside, South Australia, prior to enlistment, he embarked with the 3rd Reinforcements from Adelaide on 7 February 1916 aboard HMAT Miltiades (A28) for Suez. The battalion relocated to the Western Front, France, in June 1916. Pte Wilson was reported missing in action at the Battle of Fromelles on 20 June 1916 and was subsequently determined to have been killed in action on that date. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the VC Corner Australian Cemetery Memorial, Fromelles, France. He was aged 31 years.
