Description
The damaged turret of Centurion tank 5B (ARN 169056) after it was hit by an RPG on the barrel, just above the driver's compartment, during Operation Hermit Park on 25 June 1971. The driver, 3798399 Trooper (Tpr) Peter Cadge, was badly wounded. The tank returned to action after its barrel was replaced. It is now on display in the grounds of the Memorial, while the damaged barrel is held by 1st Armoured Regiment in Darwin. Tpe Cadge was Mentioned in Despatches for his bravery in going to the aid of the rest of his crew, despite his own severe wounds.
