Studio portrait of 1984 Private (Pte) Allan Mitchell Bollard, 32nd Battalion. A driver from Glanville, South Australia, prior to enlistment, he embarked with the 3rd Reinforcements from Adelaide on 7 February 1916 aboard HMAT Miltiades (A28) for Suez. The battalion relocated to the Western Front, France, during June 1916. He was detached to the 8th Brigade Works Unit from mid-November 1917 for five weeks. Pte Bollard was killed in action near Amiens, France, on 24 June 1918. He was aged 27 years.
