Studio portrait of 3287 Private (Pte) Adrian Henry Mundy, 32nd Battalion. A gardener from Payneham, South Australia, prior to enlistment, he embarked with the 7th Reinforcements from Adelaide on 27 June 1916 aboard HMAT Malakuta (A37) for Devonport, England. Following training in England he proceeded to France and joined his battalion on the Western Front near Montauban. Pte Mundy was wounded in action in a gas attack near Fricourt on 16 February 1917 and was able to rejoin his unit 5 weeks later. Pte Mundy was wounded in action on a second occasion on 23 November 1917 near Messines, Belgium, and was evacuated to the 53rd Casualty Clearing Station where he died of these wounds on 17 February 1918. He was aged 29 years.
