Cemetery of the Powell and Johnstone families at Rock Valley farm. In the foreground (left) is a commemorative headstone erected by the family of 2467 Private (Pte ) Herbert Myles Powell, 45th Battalion. A farm labourer prior to enlistment, Pte Powell embarked with the 5th Reinforcements from Sydney on HMAT Anchises (A68) on 24 August 1916. He was killed in action in Belgium on 30 September 1917, aged 25. The headstone reads, 'IN LOVING MEMORY OF PRIVATE H. M. POWELL Killed in action At Polygon Wood France 30 Sept 1917 Aged 25 years'.
