Studio portrait of 3510 Private (Pte) Alfred Haddock, 53rd Battalion, of St Peters, NSW. A farmer prior to enlisting in August 1916, Pte Haddock embarked from Sydney with the 9th Reinforcements on board HMAT Anchises (A68) on 24 January 1917. He arrived in France for service on the Western Front on 7 September 1917. Pte Haddock was killed in action at Ypres, Belgium, on 23 September 1917. He was 19 years of age.
