History / Summary

Able Seaman Joseph Benjamin Mason enlisted to the Royal Australian Navy on 11 June 1940. He served on various bases and ships, including HMAS Cerberus, Adelaide, Napier, Quality, and Lonsdale. He was part of the crew of HMAS Napier when the ship entered Tokyo Bay on 30 August 1945, symbolising the surrender of Japan and the end of the Second World War. Able Seaman Mason was discharged on 26 February 1946.
