Studio portrait of Corporal F W Andrews. Image is from a commemorative Honour Board with a group portrait and individual studio portraits of men who worked at Hoffnung & Co Ltd, Brisbane, Queensland and who served in the First World War. Believed to be 3059 Sergeant Frederick George Walter Andrews, 41st Battalion from Brisbane. A 32 year old Department Manager prior to enlisting on 11 December 1916, he embarked for overseas with the 7th Reinforcements of the 47th Battalion from Sydney on 7 February 1917 aboard HMAS Wiltshire (A18). While serving on the Western Front, he transferred from the 47th to the 41st Battalion and was promoted up the ranks to Sergeant. He was wounded in action in October 1917 but returned to his unit and continued to serve, arriving back in Australia on 12 November 1919.
