Description
Members of Reconstruction Task 4 (RTF-4), including 3rd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR) prepare for a group photograph at Camp Holland (Multinational Base Tarin Kowt). This photograph was taken moments before an informal group portrait - see the final image at P07964.008.
RTF-4 deployed to Uruzgan province in April 2008, and comprised 41 different units from the Australian Defence Force. Its mission was to conduct protected reconstruction operations in the remote areas of the province as part of a broader Dutch-led task force. Over the following six months, the mission developed health, education, and security infrastructure, including the construction of bridges at key river crossings throughout Uruzgan and neighbouring provinces. RTF-4 completed its mission and returned to Australia in October 2008.
