Studio portrait of QX557 Bombardier (Bdr) Alexander George Worley. Bdr Worley enlisted at Boonah Queenland on 22nd October 1939 and served overseas with the 6th Division's 1st and 2nd anti-tank regiments in the Middle East, Greece and New Guinea. In March 1943 he was discharged with the rank of acting sergeant so he could join the RAAF. After training he was posted to 24 Squadron with the service number 435236 and rank of Flying Officer (FO). FO Worley was killed in action on 6 April 1945 when RAAF Liberator A72-81 was shot down during an attack on the Japanese cruiser Isuzu near Sumba Island in the Netherlands East Indies (NEI).
