"St Yves CT [communication trench] at the Post Office looking towards the Front Line (FL) ie east." 'This is typical of trenches in this area. Note 6' A frames, duck board walk ways and corrugated iron revetment on sides. See remains of wire netting on duck boards to give better grip in muddy weather. This was once the centre of the St Yves village mentioned in Ian Hamilton's book The First Hundred Thousand.' (One of a collection of photographs belonging to Lieutenant (Lt) Robert Trevor Williams and taken by Lt William Wyatt Harvey during a battlefield tour of France and Belgium, January 1919, by officers of the 3rd Pioneer Battalion.
