"A near view of the graves of Lt Christmas and Keam of 3rd Pioneers." 'It happened thus. Lt Raymond (of Brisbane) was wounded by a shell & these two officers went to his assistance. A second shell came & killed these two & wounded lt R agaain. Lt Raymond survived. We were working on some water logged trenches at Gapaard (Belgium) & it was a fearful place for shells.' Second Lieutenant Frederic John Christmas and Lieutenant Frank Finlay Keam were killed in action on 27 June 1917.
