Studio portrait of 4573 Private (Pte) John Joseph O'Callaghan, 6th Battalion. A carpenter and joiner from Kew, Vic, prior to enlistment, Pte O'Callaghan embarked with the 14th Reinforcements from Melbourne aboard HMAT Themistocles (A32) on 28 January 1916. He was killed in action on 11 November 1916 in France, aged 20. Pte O'Callaghan has no known grave and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
