Studio portrait of 2214 Private Herbert Allan Marks, 47th Battalion, of Casino, NSW. A linesman prior to enlistment, he embarked with the 4th Reinforcements aboard HMAT Boorara (A42) on 16 August 1916. Marks was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal (L Cpl) on 2 September 1917. L Cpl Marks died of wounds on 2 October 1917. He was 24 years of age.
