Wallet 1 of 1 – Consists of one flying log book and two copies of a medical certificate of Flight Lieutenant Peter Addison Masters. The log book contains entries dated between 15 November 1940 and 8 October 1944, and covers the period of Flight Lieutenant Masters’ training in Australia, service as a pilot in Australia, New Guinea and the Netherlands East Indies, and time as a flying instructor in Australia. It records details such as dates and times of flights, aircraft types and numbers, crewmembers, and purposes of flights. Some of the recorded purposes of flights include elementary flying training, service flying training, aircraft conversion, practice flights, reconnaissance, transportation, search and rescue, bombing operations, interceptions of enemy aircraft, patrols, training exercises, dropping supplies, and flying instruction for pilot trainees. This log book also includes a letter of thanks from the Air Board of the Royal Australian Air Force, dated 21 March 1946. The two copies of a medical certificate are dated 8 March 1944, and recommend that Flight Lieutenant Masters be reposted to Australia due to repeated bouts of malaria.
