Studio portrait of 3298 Private (Pte) Albert Edward Steele, 17th Battalion. A steward of Singleton, NSW, he embarked with the 7th Reinforcements on 20 December 1915 aboard HMAT Suevic (A29). In March 1916 he was transferred to the 58th Battery, 15th Field Artillery Brigade (FAB). A year later, with the rank of Gunner (Gnr), he joined the 3rd FAB. On 30 October 1917 he was killed in action in Belgium. He was aged 27 years.
