Description
Soldiers laying M16 (jumping jack) anti-personnel mines inside the wire perimeter of the defensive barbed wire barrier built to protect the Vietnamese Regional Forces (RF) Company outpost at Ap Suoi Nghe. The hamlet of Ap Suoi Nghe was built to house the civilian population resettled from the enemy controlled area of Slope 30 during Operation Ainslie in September 1967. The Viet Cong (VC) immediately attempted to re-establish control over the relocated civilian population from Slope 30 now living in the new hamlet and the RF outpost was established at the entrance to the hamlet to provide protection.
