Studio portrait of Captain (Capt) Archibald Gladstone Corbett, Australian Army Medical Corps. A medical practitioner from Parkville, Victoria, prior to enlistment, he embarked with the Medical Officers from Melbourne on 21 November 1917 aboard HMAT Nestor (A71) for Suez. During January 1918 he was relocated to the AMC Training Depot in England before proceeding to France to join No 2 Australian General Hospital at Wimereux. Later that month he was transferred to the 50th Battalion. Capt Corbett returned to England in March 1919 and took leave until June 1920 to complete further medical studies. During his return voyage to Australia Capt Corbett was lost overboard from HMAT Orontes near Toulon on 25 June 1920. He was aged 36 years.
