Description
Studio portrait of 419700 Flight Sergeant (Flt Sgt) Ronald Sutton Camier, RAAF, 90 Squadron RAF. Camier of East St Kilda, Vic, was an employee of the Bank of Australasia prior to enlisting on 12 September 1942. He embarked for England in August 1943 and was reported missing and presumed dead, after failing to return from a raid on 13 August 1944. He was aged 20. Flt Sgt Camier has no known grave and is commemorated at Becklingen Cemetery, Niedersachsen, Germany. This image is taken from "The Ivanarian", a magazine of the Ivanhoe Grammar School in Melbourne, Vic. During the Second World War the school honoured "old boys" who had enlisted and died by including a short biographical piece and in many cases a portrait.
