Studio portrait of VX67875 Sergeant (Sgt) Carson 'Kit' Atherton, 2/6 Independent Company (2/6 Commando Squadron). Sgt Atherton enlisted on 13 December 1941 in Childers, Victoria. The 2/6 Commando Squadron operated in Papua New Guinea, particularly in Port Moresby, the base of the Kokoda Trail, and Buna. The 2/6 Commando Squadron also participated in the OBOE operations, May-July 1945. Sgt Atherton was discharged on 8 May 1945.
