Description
235175 Lieutenant Maxwell Thomas Turrell, 2nd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (2RAR) poses at the back of an ambulance whilst acting as an extra (a British soldier) in the film 'Seventh Dawn'. The film, starring William Holden, focuses on the Malayan resistance against the Japanese at the end of the Second World War, and the Malayan Emergency. Around 80 Australian soldiers played the roles of British soldiers for three major scenes: the surrender of the Japanese at the end of the Second World War, the departure of a Malayan resistance leader from Kuala Lumpur railway station, and the destruction of a village used by a Communist Terrorist (CT) during the Malayan Emergency.
