Description
A US Army Caribou aircraft destroyed during a Viet Cong (VC) rocket attack on the Vung Tau airfield. At 1.00 am seventeen 122 mm rockets and eleven 75mm recoilless rifle rounds were fired from Long Song Island, about nine kilometres north of Vung Tau, followed by another three rockets about four hours later. The damaged Caribou was parked adjacent to the RAAF maintenance hangar.
