Identified from left to right are SX422 Private (Pte) Edward John Edwards from Stockport, South Australia (later promoted to Sergeant and killed in action on 27 August 1942 at Milne Bay, Papua New Guinea); SX12596 Pte Frederick Sidney George (Jock) Sayner from Port Pirie, South Australia (later died of wounds on 1 January 1943 in Papua New Guinea); and SX5895 Lance Corporal Clifford Eric Schloithe from Renmark, South Australia (later promoted to Corporal and died of wounds near Buna, Papua New Guinea on 1 January 1943).
