Description
Studio portrait of QX7572 Sapper (Spr) Amor Herbert 'Bert' Farr, 2/3 Field Company, of Cloncurry, Queensland. Inset on the top left corner is his wife, Phylis, and daughter, Judith. Spr Farr enlisted in Cairns, Queensland, on 25 May 1940, and embarked for overseas service as an engineer with the 2/7 Field Company on 14 November 1940. Having served at Tobruk and El Alamein, Spr Farr returned to Australia briefly before deploying to New Guinea with the 2/3 Field Company. He transferred to the 2/13 Field Company and landed at Tarakan, Borneo, on 1 May 1945. Spr Farr was killed in action on 8 June 1945, aged 33 years.
