Studio portrait of 5650 Private (Pte) Alexander Bailey, 3rd Battalion, and his wife Grace and their sons Thomas Edward (standing left) and Reginald Horace (seated right). A labourer from Balmain, NSW, Pte Bailey embarked with the 18th Reinforcements from Sydney on HMAT Kyarra (A55) on 3 June 1916. Pte Bailey was killed in action at Hermies, France, on 16 April 1917, aged 28. A third son, Alexander Abraham, was born in 1917.
