Description

Manuscript entitled "My Air force Experiences" detailing the experiences of Stan Jolly during his service in 467 Squadron RAAF during the Second World War. Chapter 1 tells of his enlistment and training before being posted to England via the United States. Chapter 2 details the Mailley-le-Camp raid in which he was shot down, then details his experiences evading the German forces in occupied France, ending when Mr Jolly left mainland Europe to return to England via Utah beach in Normandy. Chapter 3 provides a summary of the authors diaries from his return to England until he reached Australia at the end of hostilities. Chapter 4 summarises the experiences of one of the other members of his crew including events relating to the wartime experiences, such as later visits to France in the 1970s and roles held in later life. Chapter 5 is a copy of a speech given by the Mayor of Chapelle-Vallon at the ceremony on the 50th anniversary of the raid in which the author was shot down.
