Informal outdoor portrait of 5416 Private (Pte) Alfred Skeen, 17th Battalion. A wheeler from Lithgow prior to enlistment, Pte Skeen embarked with the 14th Reinforcements from Sydney aboard HMAT Wiltshire (A18) on 22 August 1916. He was killed in action at Mont St Quentin, France, on 31 August 1918, aged 24.
