Studio portrait of WX5129 Private (Pte) William Anthony Young, 2/28th Battalion. Born in Finchley, England on 9 June 1917, Pte Young enlisted at Perth, WA, on 23 July 1940. He married Joan Newman on 1 March 1941 prior to embarking for service in the Middle East where he was killed in action near El Alamein, Egypt on 18 July 1942. Pte Young was 25.
