Description

50 page manuscript. The manuscript examines the role of the RAAF in the later phases of the Second World War in New Guinea. The plans made by higher command are examined, as is the contemporary response to the role the RAAF played at this stage in the war. The experiences of individuals within the RAAF are presented. The manuscript then relates this all back to the galleries of the Australian War Memorial and makes some suggestions as to how these issues may be presented. Two appendices are included, Appendix 1 provides copies of some War Cabinet documents relating to the RAAF in New Guinea, and Appendix 2 provides a copy of a statement from General Blamey to the War Cabinet in 1945.
