32 page manuscript. Manuscript in two parts. First examines the experience of Australian Prisoners of War in Germany with particular focus on the nature of the camps and the social structure within the camps. Part two examines prisoner escapes, with a focus on the nature of the escapes, the reasons for escaping, and the influence of escapes on the prison population and the German guards. An appendix is included with tables of photographs and relics from the Australian War Memorial's collection relating to prisoners of war that would be suitable for display in an exhibition on the prisoner of war experience of Australians in Europe during the Second World War.
