Flight suit
Desert tan one piece long sleeved flying suit made from a blend of polyamide fabrics and carbon fibre. The suit has a front zipper opening with twin zipper fasteners running from neck to crutch. There are two chest pockets with angled zippers. Above the left pocket is a rectangular velcro tab and above the right pocket is an irregularly shaped velcro tab. The suit has an adjustable waist belt which is threaded through a belt loop which extends across the back of the suit. The ends of the belt are velcro backed and there are velcro tabs located under the breast pockets to attach the belt.
The sleeves are full length with velcro tabs to adjust the cuffs. On the underside of each sleeve are four ventilation holes. On the left sleeve just below the shoulder is a rectangular velcro tab with an unadorned velcro badge. Beneath the badge is a pocket set at an angle with a vertical zipper on the right side. On the outside of the pocket is another pocket, vertically divided to hold pens. A tan fabric flap covers this pocket and is secured with velcro. There are two thigh pockets on the suit. The left pocket has a vertical zipper and the right pocket has a horizontal zipper. A horizontally zippered pocket is located on each of the left and right calves of the flying suit. Located down the front of each shin is a reverse pleat with zipper closing. A white fabric label sewn inside the collar gives manufacturer's and care details, and shows the size '95L'.
Type example of a flight suit worn by Australian Army and Royal Australian Air Force air crew in the Middle East Area of Operations (MEAO).
