Enlarged portrait of 2nd Lieutenant (2/Lt) Cecil Frank Carson, 44th Battalion, extracted from a commemorative scroll. 2/Lt Carson, a bank clerk from Kalgoorlie, WA, enlisted on 18 January 1916. His unit embarked from Fremantle, WA, aboard HMAT A29 Suevic on 6 June 1916 and he was killed in action in France on 4 April 1918 age 23. The framed, hand tinted scroll was presented to his family on behalf of the residents of Cressy, WA. It was was commercially produced by Atlas Press Pty Ltd of Melbourne and utilized artwork by Elton Fox. For image of the scroll see alternate image.
