Description

Studio portrait of QX3000 Sergeant (Sgt) Ronald Arthur Patrick (later MM), 2/15 Australian Infantry Battalion. A despatch clerk from Gladstone, Qld, Sgt Patrick enlisted on 13 May 1940. In 1941 he was promoted to the rank of Warrant Officer Second Class (WOII), and in November that year was awarded the Military Medal for his involvement in a successful raiding party on the night of 30/31 August, and for demonstrating "[e]xtreme gallantry and devotion [in the] El Adem sector." In July 1942 he was promoted to Lieutenant (Lt). Lt Patrick was killed in action on 1 September 1942 in Tel el Eisa, Egypt. He is buried in the El Alamein War Cemetery, Egypt.
