Informal outdoor portrait of the family of VX56454 Private (Pte) Vernon Edward Glossop, East Coburg, Victoria. Pte Vernon served with the 2/29 Infantry Battalion in the Second World War and was taken prisoner of war of the Japanese in Malaya. The reverse of the photograph reads: "Jack took this snap to send to you -- that's why we are all smiling". Pte Glossop survived the war and was discharged on 19 November 1945.
