Eisenhower
Description
USS Dwight D Eisenhower, a United States Navy aircraft carrier, while on service as part of Operation Slipper. Commissioned in 1977, the ship is the second of the ten Nimitz-class supercarriers currently in service. This image was taken from the deck of HMAS Parramatta which was deployed at that time on the 23rd rotation to Operation Slipper. Opportunities existed for Parrmatta's crew to interact with with foreign navies due to the collaborative counter-piracy effort between CMF units and units operating in support of the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Oranisation Task Forces.
