Tomkinson, William (Tommy) DSO (Major, b.1888 - d.1923)
Description
Seven page hand written letter (with envelope) dated 11 September 1918, written by Major William Tomkinson to his wife, "Tibbie". It is primarily a personal letter in which he talks fondly of his wife and children and how much he longs to see them all again. He also talks of the conditions in which he finds himself - the rain and cold, insects, moving lodgings, missing gear, lack of food, demolished bridges, road mines, dead horses, and meeting up with people he knew.
