Description

Collection relating to the First World War service of 375 Lance Sergeant Robert Bartlett Bates, 2 Field Ambulance, AAMC, AIF. Collection consists of one typed poem entitled "A Trench Galilee By an Anzac Officer" written by Captain Samuel Percival Lyttle and two documents relating to Bates' service and burial. The documents include one regarding the awarding of a Military Medal and Bar to Bates, and the other relating to the death and burial of Bates in 1955. Bates served with 2 Field Ambulance which was attached to the 7th Infantry Battalion.
