Handwritten note to Margaret Markham
Description
Handwritten note found in autograph book belonging to Margaret Markham, Lady Mayoress of Penrith. Margaret was Lady Mayoress of Penrith, NSW, in the 1920s - 1930s. The note has no signature but relates to PUB01714 souvenir poppy that has been signed by G. Howell VC. The note reads: 'The Lady Mayoress, Dear Madam kindly accept this small worthy token in appreciation of your valuable contribution to my Sub Branch at our last Poppy Day Appeal. These special poppies are autographed by one of our most distinguished Australian V.C. Heroes. Hoping you will realise our appreciation.'
