Studio portrait of 7442 Private (Pte) Walter Clarence Allan, 6th Battalion, in a greatcoat. A tanner from Preston, Vic, prior to enlisting, Pte Allan embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Themistocles (A32) on 4 August 1917. He was killed in action in Hazebrouck, France, on 24 April 1918. He was 22 years of age.
