Description

Collection relating to 1051 Lieutenant (Lt) Alan Wentworth Crocker whilst serving abroad during the First World War, initially with the 3rd Divisional Signal Company, before enlisting with the Australian Flying Corps in England in 1918 to train as a Flying Officer. Collection comprises two original detailed and descriptive letters written by Lt Crocker. The first was written in 1915 whilst he was recovering in hospital in Heliopolis from wounds received at Gallipoli in late August, and addressed to his 'Aunty Bess'. The second was was dated 28 May 1916 and written to his 'Aunt Isa'. Also includes typed transcripts of both letters, completed by his great niece Robyn Morgan.
