One page handwritten letter (and envelope) from Able Seaman Roderick Noel Patterson to Miss Alma Gibney, dated 2 September 1945 (the date of the signing of the Japanese surrender, in Tokyo Bay), written from the HMAS Shropshire. Patterson wrote the letter as a souvenir of the occasion. The envelope is post marked to indicate the occasion, place and date.
