Hand-coloured studio portrait of Q28988 Private (Pte) Gordon Benjamin Young, 49th Battalion AMF (Stanley Regiment). A farm labourer from Coomera, Qld, Pte Young enlisted on 2 April 1941. He was killed in action on 7 December 1942 during the 49th Battalion attack on the Japanese defences at Sanananda Road, Papua New Guinea. He is buried in the Port Moresby (Bomana) War Cemetery, Papua New Guinea.
