Description

Members of the 7th Battalion The Royal Australian Regiment (7RAR) Mechanised Crews attached to 2nd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (2 RAR) as part of Timor-Leste Battlegroup 3 (TLBG3). TLBG3 forms part of the International Stabalization Force (ISF) which also includes 631, the joint task force of the Australian and New Zealand Defence Forces which operates as a part of Operation Astute. At this time, Australia had approximately 850 personnel serving in the task force, which was formed in 2006 as a result of the crisis in East Timor and which replaced the United Nations Office in East Timor (UNMET). The Australian personnel of ISF working within Operation Astute work in conjunction with another United Nations multinational force; United Nations Integrated Mission in East Timor (UNMIT).
