Studio Portrait of 3973 Private (Pte) Hector Edward Williams, 18th Battalion. A baker and pastry cook from Orange, NSW, prior to enlistment. Pte Williams embarked with the 9th Reinforcements aboard HMAT Runic (A54) on 20 January 1916 (service number 3973A). He transferred to the 20th Battalion on 1 June 1916 and was promoted to Lance Corporal (L Cpl) on 4 March 1917. L Cpl Williams was killed in action on 3 May 1917.
