Lade, Alan Walter (Able Seaman, b.1924 - d.1945)
Description
Collection relating to the Second World War service of H2336 Able Seaman Alan Walter Lade, RAN. Collection consists of five original handwritten letters and one Royal Australian Navy envelope. The letters consist of three letters written by Lade to his sister Doreen; one letter written by Lade to his cousin Laura; and one letter sent by Captain John Malet Armstrong to Mrs Lade regarding her son's (Able Seaman Lade) death during an air attack. Lade was killed in a kamikaze attack on HMAS Australia (II), on 6 January 1945.
